Meeting Mahatma Gandhi

Hey ... I am back in London again.
On our way to Adam's office at University College London (UCL) today, we stopped to visit the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Tavistock Square. Gandhi is one of UCL's most famous graduates, and his statue become even more significant in 2005 as a symbol of peace because one of the terrorist bomb attacks on London's public transport occurred nearby (in fact, a UCL cleaner on her way home was killed). You can see the flowers that people leave, both those who wish to remember one of history's greatest individuals as well as the victims of the 07/07 attacks.

Finally in the Netherlands ...

As some of you might know ... my family comes from the Netherlands ... but I never been there!
Can you believe that ... I have traveled the world, but never was in the Netherlands, so close to my beloved Belgium!

So, I was very pleased when Adam and Joe took me to Amsterdam.

Here you see me in front of the Amstel river and behind you see the Munt Tower. Oh, I love Amsterdam ...

Ceci n'est pas Paris ...

Guess what! Adam and Joe left me behind in London when they went to Paris. They packed their small suitcases and rushed out the door to St Pancras Station and completely forgot about me! They were simply too excited about catching the Eurostar from the new station, eating all that lovely French food and celebrating one year since their civil partnership last year. Because of this oversight, Adam's been especially nice to me ever since, trying to make it up to me. He took me out to lunch in Gordon Square today, the park in Bloomsbury near his work, so that I could enjoy some lovely winter sunshine and see the early spring that has come around this year - here I am with a lovely. Adam's promised to take me to Amsterdam this week as well, and to Bamberg in Germany in two weeks' time.
